This fall I made the leap and purchased a 16 man tipi with arctic stove. We use Pack goats and 1 goat can carry the entire base camp including the stove. We recently went on a 9 day primitive camp hike and all the room plus the stove made it very comfortable. We got rain and freezing rain on 5 of the days. The ability to dry our gear overnight makes all the difference. Everything stayed in the tent and in the morning we could completely gear up, cook breakfast and get ready for the days hunt in comfortable warmth with room to stand and walk. Very comfortable for 3-4 campers on an extended stay. We have camped about 25 days total and everything is holding up. I did replace the stakes with MSR hurricane spiral stakes because when testing it at home, the stakes would start to pull up in moderate wind after a few days. This would be a disaster if the stove was hot and the tent partially fell. It compares favorably to a canvas wall tent for comfort, but is a fraction of the weight and much easier to set up. I am thrilled with the performance!
Best Purchase I've Made
From Ben of Denver, Colorado on 6/30/2015.
Seriously the best purchase I've ever made. This Tipi does it all. Its lightweight, and packable. Its huge and stylish. And best of all you can brag to all your friends about it around the water cooler. Buy this and you are immediately a camping god.
