The very popular 8 man was Patrick's first Tipi, and has been everywhere, done everything, for 25 years. It's combination of size, ruggedness, and weight will serve you well. Wonderful standing and moving around roominess.
Seam Sealing
Seam sealer is included, and sealing is done by the customer in order to save costs and expedite your shelter.
1. Pitch your shelter tight to allow sealer to penetrate and waterproof the stretched seams, stitch holes and thread.
2. Fabric should be clean and dry (this sealer claims to cure in wet or damp conditions). Use a paper cup, mix sealant and mineral spirit (paint thinner) until you have a slurry about the thickness of molasses. Using a 1/2" inch paint brush, apply to all sewn areas, seams, bartacks and holes.
3. Curing: leave the tent pitched until the sealant is not tacky, the longer the better. Fully cures in 24 hours but dries tack free in about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
NO OPEN FIRES. Kifaru Tipis are designed to be used with a stove, and not open fires. Any use of an open fire inside a Tipi will void all warranties. UV Rays: Any nylon structure will suffer from UV rays if allowed to remain erected for prolonged periods of time. We strongly recommend NOT using your Kifaru shelter as a permanent structure. Snow Loads: These shelters are not cabins. Do not leave your Tipi unattended in snow country and keep snow knocked off. Warranty does NOT cover snow load damage. Storage: The greatest harm to Tipi fabric is usually not from abuse or critters, it is improper storage. After your trip, make sure your Tipi is free of any moisture or organic materials - these can eat away at the fabric during storage. Air dry and store out of direct sunlight. Should you find mildew on your Shelter, simply remove spots with a bit of vinegar. Washing: agitation of machine washing can damage the UV coatings on outdoor fabrics - sponge bathe with Woolite (no bleach). Hang to dry.

10+ Years of Use
From Anonymous of Lapeer, Michigan on .
I have used the 8 man tipi over 10 years and still going strong. Hunting in the mountains of Wyoming in 40 mph winds, snow and heat. Michigan in the winter on ice covered Lakes and early summer on canoe excursions. Simply the best shelter I have ever used!
8 Man Tipi Alaska
From Anonymous of Wasilla, Alaska on .
The 8 man tipi arrived nearly 2 weeks earlier than expected and met every expectation. The only minor annoyance is that there was not enough silicon to seam seal it completely. It came with only one tube. Other reviews mentioned 2 tubes. I would not even mention it if we didn't live 2 hours from town :o) We scrounged some out of the shed and finished the job so we could go camping :o) Thanks for a great product.
8 Man Tipi
From Anonymous of Bluffdale, Utah on .
If your hunting group is 3 or more guys this is perfect, you can split the weight well. Very spacious for 4 guys and gear. Material is light but very durable. Set up is quick especially after a few times doing it. It takes me and my brother 5 - 7 minutes. The large box stove heats it up great. I have no complaints on this product.

This is our second Tipi, The only problem with the tents, there is no skirting on the bottom. If it is windy or on slightly uneven ground air flows into the tent. The first tent we purchased extra material (16" wide) and had it sewed on. The most recent tent I asked if it could be done before purchasing and I was told NO NOT POSSIBLE not sure why?? So I still require material and need to fix the bottom of this tent. Otherwise we love the tents, use them mostly for long back country horse trips. Regards Kim
Five Extra Months of Camping
From Greg of New York, New York on .
The Kifaru eight person tipi is a game-changer that has added at least five more months to my camping year. I've used it four times as a hot tipi with a camping stove. My friends and I absolutely love it. It provides a toasty, roomy and wonderful communal space to relax and have great conversations while it is freezing outside. I'm looking forward to Jan., Feb., March and April camping. Bring on the snow and cold weather! The tipi is well made and a work of beauty. I'm very happy with my purchase.
Years of hard use
From Anonymous of Prescott, Arizona on .
We bought our 8 man Kifaru in 2005 while living in Alaska. It withstood 3 nights of 70MPH winds on the southern tip of Culross Island. I rolled several driftwood logs onto the windward side, thinking it wouldn't matter if we rip small holes in the base... no rips... always the most popular shelter in any group; We have used it in temps from 30 below to 115 degrees here in AZ. We have used it for about 10 seasons, it is still going strong.
excelant product

Just spent 9 days in Yukon river country, Temperatures were in the teens. The stainless stove was priceless. Buy the liner. We had one that had it and one that did not. Condensation was a big issue in the one that did not.

2/5/2017 – I want to confirm that like the "Sawtooth", the liner in the 8 man tipi can be purchased/used at a later date.
Response From Kifaru Intl.: Yes, you can purchase the tipi liners at a later date.
11/21/2015 – We would like to know the total weight in ounces for just the tipi with no stove.
Response From Kifaru Intl.: Hi Dominic,
The 8 man tipi weighs 7lbs 9oz, this includes the pole, pegs, seam sealer and bag. This equates to 121 ounces.
11/19/2015 – Is there enough room in the 8-man for two people to sleep on one side of or behind the center pole/stove? I am looking at . . .
Response From Kifaru Intl.: Hi Jason,
Since you plan on using cots in the tipi, a 12 man tipi would be a better option as the 8 man tipi will get a bit cramped.
10/14/2015 – What is the weight of the tent when a liner is added? I am a Yukon Guide and need something compact to fit in small float . . .
Response From Kifaru Intl.: The 8 man tipi liner adds an additional 1lb to the weight. the total weight is 8lb 9oz
9/15/2015 – How many adults fit with comfortable "living space" in the 8 man tipi? Thanks.
Response From Kifaru Intl.: Hi Darrin,
The 8 man tipi can fit 4 adults comfortably with plenty of living space.
