Warranty and Return Policy

About a Built-to-Order Product
We're proud to provide extremely durable, lightweight products that are 100% American made. This gear will outperform and outlast anything made offshore - period. It is built specifically for serious users with the best-in-the-world materials. It is costly gear - our customers quickly acknowledge that the benefit-to-cost ratio of their Kifaru gear is quite high and is well worth the investment.
All Kifaru products are built-to-order to ensure consistently high quality, and employ our fellow Americans, many who have been with us from the Mountainsmith days - our first company.

Kifaru’s Lifetime Warranty

We offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship of all our products. Limited Lifetime Warranty means that your items will be free of manufacturer defects for a practical life span of the product. It does not mean that Kifaru gear will last your lifetime. The lifetime of a product is determined by the care of the product as well as the amount and type of use. All Kifaru products will eventually show signs of wear, and wear and tear will not be covered under the warranty.

Warranties and Repairs will be handled on a case by case basis depending on the extent of the damage.

Please advise: If you receive an item from Kifaru with a defect from the list below and the damage was not done on your part and it is close to approximate purchase date, then please contact customer service for more information.


Issues not covered under warranty include but not limited to:

  • Abrasions
  • Cuts/Slashes
  • Normal Wear and Tear
  • Misuse or improper care
  • Accidents resulting in rips, tears, burn, and stains
  • Fabric fading over time
  • Natural breakdown of materials/laminations with age
  • Incorrect Laundering
  • Seconds Items
  • Not the original owner and was not purchased directly from Kifaru.

If you are unsure about the qualifications for the limited lifetime warranty, please contact customer service at customerservice@kifaru.net. In your email, include the following:

  •  Photo reflecting the defective item
  • A brief description of the defect
  • Your name, email address, and phone number
  • Once it has been determined how we will repair your item, an RMA form will be sent to your email.  You will be notified when we receive the item and when the repair has been completed.
  • If your item does not fall under the warranty, you will be given a total for the repair via phone call and email.

Clean Gear: Please make sure your packs are free of animal byproducts, dirt, mud, vegetation, sweat, etc. Otherwise we will have it sent back at the customers expense.

At Kifaru, we will first try to repair a warrantied item; if we cannot repair an item we will replace it at equal value. For some older bags we may no longer carry some parts necessary to repair those packs. In this case you will be contacted by a customer service representative.

Repairs not covered under warranty will be repaired at the owner’s expense. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover for all repairs not covered under warranty.


Repair turnaround time: Depending on the time of year, expect an approximate turnaround time of 2-4 weeks. Some repairs may take longer depending on the extent of the repair.

Shipping: Kifaru will cover ground shipping on all U.S. returns for items that qualify under our warranty. Expedited or international shipping cost will be the responsibility of the customer. For items NOT covered under warranty, the customer is responsible for return shipping charges.

Status Check: Please feel free to contact customer service via phone call or email regarding the status of your warranty claim.

Returns/Exchanges: If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, we will gladly accept your item for return or exchange within 30 days of receiving your items for a full product refund (excluding shipping charges).  Please ensure products are in new, resalable condition meaning they have not been used in the field and are free of dirt, debris, blood, etc.  Please contact customer service regarding your request and you will be emailed a Return Authorization Form to complete and include with the item.  A confirmation email will be sent out when your request has been processed.

Please note: Each exchange will be handled on a case by case basis.

Kifaru does not cover shipping charges for exchange items.
